Britney Spears Vows to “Find a New Family” as She Blasts Jamie Lynn Spears and Kevin Federline

Britney Spears

Britney Spears has declared she will “find a new family.” In a scathing post on Sunday, the 44-year-old singer attacked her sister Jamie Lynn Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline. She said they made her feel like “a slave.”

Spears shared the message on Instagram beside a still of Dakota Fanning raising her middle finger in the 2003 film Uptown Girls. “Jamie Lynn never let me hold Ivy one time when I would visit in Louisiana during covid in two week trips,” she wrote. “Kevin wouldn’t let me use the bathroom when I would pick my children up in their house.”

She went on: “They made me feel like a slave and have all their secret things they did behind my back and all I ever did was work for my dad. I will find a new family.” Reps for Federline and Jamie Lynn had not responded at the time of reporting. It is unclear what prompted the post.

Old Wounds Reopened

Spears has often said her conservatorship left her feeling controlled. It ended in 2021 after 13 years, and her father, Jamie Spears, led it. She has also said she felt betrayed that her family did not help her escape it.

Earlier this year, she accused her parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, of secretly spending time with her sons. She said they took the boys to the beach for a whole summer without her knowledge. “I honestly went to my knees and cried for two months,” she wrote. She also said her father banned her from going to a diner with a new friend.

She has described being “brainwashed” and “taken advantage of.” “I never got to be me, the real Spears,” she wrote.

The Feud With Jamie Lynn

The sisters have been estranged for years. The rift deepened in 2022, when Jamie Lynn promoted her memoir, Things I Should Have Said. Spears called her sister a “selfish little brat” and sent a cease-and-desist letter. In 2023 she accused Jamie Lynn of profiting from the family’s fame.

Federline Under Financial Pressure

The post came days after report that Federline, 48, owes at least $117,704 to City National Bank. He signed the agreement in late November 2024. That is around the time Spears made her last child support payment.

She had paid him $40,000 a month while he raised their sons in Hawaii. After Sean Preston turned 18 in 2023, the payments dropped to $20,000. They continued until Jayden James finished high school. Bank of America also sued Federline in February over $12,186.64, but the case was dismissed after he apparently paid.

Federline’s 2025 memoir, You Thought You Knew, was another flashpoint. Spears called it “extremely hurtful and exhausting.”
