NHL Players Rave About the New Hometown Remix Jerseys, From Panthers Coral to Sharks Scuba Blue

NHL Hometown Remix Jerseys Unveiled

The NHL has unveiled Hometown Remix, a 32-team special-edition uniform, apparel and headwear program, and players are already fans. The Florida Panthers lead the way. They will be first to wear theirs, when they host the Detroit Red Wings on Monday at 7 p.m. ET.

Each design is built around its own city. Players say the point is to look different. “They are completely different from anything we have seen before, and that’s the point, right?” said Panthers defenseman Seth Jones. “It’s called Hometown Remix for a reason.”

Panthers Go Coral

Florida’s jersey is inspired by a South Florida sunrise. A hockey stick and a palm tree cross in front of a rising sun. The main color is coral, with orange, yellow and navy accents.

“They look sick,” center Anton Lundell said. “No one else has those colors. It certainly has South Florida and ‘Miami Vice’ vibes to it.” He said fans could wear one down Las Olas Boulevard. Fans lined up to buy them Monday morning. Defenseman Aaron Ekblad plans to buy some. Coach Paul Maurice said he is not allowed near the team shop with a credit card. “I want something completely different, something with some Florida soul to it,” he said.

Coral makes Florida one of two teams adding a new color to the NHL. The other is Vegas, whose jersey uses jade, inspired by the felt on casino tables, with roulette wheels on the sleeves. Jack Eichel said he prefers traditional jerseys, but for a limited run, “maybe it’s not a bad idea to throw a little uniqueness in it.” Noah Hanifin called them “pretty funky.”

Sharks, Capitals, Blackhawks and Bruins

San Jose will debut scuba blue, a lighter shade of teal, when it hosts Calgary at 9 p.m. ET. Shark teeth with pink gums wrap the sleeves and socks. The “SJ” mark has a shark swimming between the letters. “I like the logo a lot,” captain Macklin Celebrini said.

Washington brings back its Capital Dome logo in layered blues, rotunda bronze and front gray. “Love it,” said Alex Tuch. Tom Wilson grew up watching teammate Alex Ovechkin wear that logo.

Chicago will wear green against Colorado at 8 p.m. ET. Patrick Kane never wore a green jersey in a game during his 2007-23 Blackhawks run. He is back after signing as a free agent. “A little early St. Patty’s,” captain Connor Bedard said.

Boston goes brown, a nod to its 1924-25 inaugural season, with a varsity sweater feel. “Right now, they look pretty sick to me,” coach Marco Sturm said.

Goalie Jeremy Swayman likes all 32. “It’s cool to see what each area has unique to their own hometown,” he said.
