Apple has launched a new device leasing programme that will allow customers to get an iPhone for as little as $17.99 per month. Apple Upgrade, powered by payments partner Klarna, is available through Apple’s online store, the Apple Store app, and physical Apple Store locations across the United States starting today.
The programme offers 12- and 24-month leasing options for iPhone and Apple Watch, and 24- and 36-month terms for Mac and iPad. Starting prices are $17.99 per month for iPhone, $11.99 for Apple Watch, $24.99 for Mac, and $11.99 for iPad. Customers can reduce their monthly payment by trading in an existing device through Apple Trade In at enrolment, and can earn 3% Daily Cash back on lease payments made with Apple Card.
With the launch of Apple Upgrade, Apple is retiring the existing iPhone Upgrade Program and iPhone Payments options in the United States. Customers currently enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program will be able to switch to Apple Upgrade, finance through Apple Card Monthly Instalments, purchase outright, or move to carrier financing.
How the Programme Works
Customers apply online or in-store through a simplified Klarna process that Apple says takes minutes. All applications involve a soft credit inquiry that will not affect a credit score. In-store customers can leave with their device the same day. Online customers can choose delivery or in-store pickup.
At the end of the lease term, customers have three options: upgrade to the latest available model, purchase their current device with a one-time payment, or return it and exit the programme. All lease details — including billing schedules and remaining payments — are managed through the Klarna app. Customers can add an AppleCare subscription to make the upgrade process smoother.
What Devices Are Available
The programme covers the full current Apple lineup. iPhone options include the iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max — the most powerful Pro models ever produced, running on the A19 Pro chip. Apple Watch options include the Series 11 and the Ultra 3, which features satellite communications and up to 72 hours of battery life in Low Power Mode. Mac options include the M5 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, the M4 iMac, and the Mac Studio. iPad options cover the M4 iPad Air, M5 iPad Pro, and iPad mini.
