Harry Styles is 30 shows into a Madison Square Garden residency — and he couldn’t resist acknowledging the other major event the venue hosted this summer. While performing on Saturday August 29th, Styles made a wry reference to the arena’s most talked-about booking of 2026: Taylor Swift’s July wedding to Travis Kelce.
“We’re at Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks,” Styles told the crowd, according to videos shared widely on social media. “And they also do weddings!”
The comment drew immediate reaction online. Styles and Swift dated briefly in 2012 and 2013, and their relationship is widely believed to have inspired multiple songs — most notably “Style” from Swift’s 2014 album 1989, and Styles’ own track “Two Ghosts.” The two have maintained what appears to be a cordial relationship since, and the joke landed as affectionately playful rather than pointed.
The Wedding Styles Wasn’t At
Swift and Kelce — who got engaged in 2025 — married at Madison Square Garden on July 3rd in what became one of the most star-studded events in the venue’s history. Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony. The guest list included Tom Cruise, Bradley Cooper, Hugh Grant, Jessica Alba, Tom Hanks, and Paul McCartney, among many others.
Styles himself was not in attendance — he had a show at Wembley Stadium in London that same day as part of his Together, Together world tour. However, his partner Zoë Kravitz, a friend of Swift’s, was spotted at the wedding.
More than two months later, no official wedding photos have been released. Travis Kelce, speaking at training camp on August 12th, described it as “the best night of my life,” adding that he appreciated “everybody who came out and celebrated and had fun with us.” Swift has not made any public statement or social media post about the wedding.
George Stephanopoulos, who attended and discussed the event on Good Morning America in July, described it as feeling “as intimate as it could possibly be, given it was Madison Square Garden,” saying the interior had been transformed to look like “a garden inside the Garden.”
Styles kicked off his 30-show MSG residency on August 26th. At his opening night performance, he paid tribute to Dolly Parton, raising his arm in a half-salute as he told the crowd: “We love you, Dolly.” Since 2025, Styles has been romantically linked to Kravitz.
