Lions Cornerback Terrion Arnold Arrested on Kidnapping and Robbery Charges Carrying Life Sentence

Terrion Arnold arrested kidnapping robbery Lions

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Florida on Wednesday after an arrest warrant was issued in connection with a kidnapping and robbery case in Tampa. The Florida state attorney’s office for Hillsborough County announced that Arnold faces multiple felony charges carrying a potential sentence of up to life in prison.

“Arnold is accused of coordinating and directing codefendants to lure three men to an apartment where the victims were robbed, beaten, and held at gunpoint,” the state attorney’s office said in a press release. Arnold and four co-defendants are currently held without bond.

The alleged events trace back to an incident in which Arnold reported to the Largo Police Department that $200,000 in personal items had been stolen from an Airbnb he owned. According to the investigation cited by prosecutors, within hours of filing that theft report, Arnold allegedly began orchestrating a retaliation operation involving others. Three individuals were reportedly lured to an apartment, where they were pistol-whipped, held at gunpoint, and interrogated about the stolen property while one of the alleged aggressors filmed the incident on FaceTime.

“No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,” said State Attorney Suzy Lopez. “A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence, or retaliation. This arrest is the result of months of investigative work and collaboration between the Tampa Police Department and our prosecutors.”

Arnold Denies Involvement

Arnold’s management company issued a statement maintaining his innocence. “Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence,” said Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management. “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences. Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication.”

Arnold’s name first appeared in court documents related to the case in February, at which point his legal team said no charges had been filed “after direct communication with the lead prosecutor.” Arnold denied any involvement at that time as well.

Two co-defendants — Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo — pleaded guilty to their roles in the crime at a hearing on June 24th. Randazzo was sentenced to four years in prison followed by six years of probation. Del Valle entered an open plea with sentencing to be set at a later date. Both are required under their plea agreements to testify truthfully in any future proceedings related to the case — a significant development given that their testimony could directly affect the case against Arnold.

The NFL’s Response and Arnold’s Contract Status

The Detroit Lions said in a statement they were aware of the legal situation and would not comment out of respect for the ongoing legal process. The NFL confirmed it was aware and had been in contact with the club, adding that the matter would undergo the league’s standard disciplinary review process.

Arnold was selected by the Lions in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and is currently in the third year of a four-year, fully guaranteed rookie contract worth $14.3 million — an average annual value of $3.59 million. His deal also includes a fifth-year club option that the Lions would need to exercise by next spring to keep him through the 2028 season. That decision now sits in considerably more uncertain territory.
